CRUSCH RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX IN SAMEDAN

This Ruch & Partner design delivers Alpine architecture with contemporary flair.

Designed by Ruch & Partner, this residential complex comprises three pentagonal-shaped buildings set amid the greenery of a large hilly meadow, creating a clear distinction from the existing structures, for the most part influenced by local architectural characteristics.

As in all the design projects curated by Ruch & Partner, it included a preliminary study of the site and its light, as well as a preferential incorporation of local materials.

The three buildings contain 12 large apartments, each of which enjoys a specific view, unobstructed by the other buildings.

The facade is made of a particular kind of cast concrete that changes color depending on the weather and season, while the windows, doors and shutters are made of bronze and larch.

The interior design of the apartment (owned by a well-known Milanese entrepreneur who loves to spend time in this Engadin home), was entrusted to architect Chiara Ghirardelli who masterfully transformed the owner’s wishes into a sophisticated, yet welcoming second home.

Working together, the interior designer and homeowner came up with a renovation project for the space that respectfully stayed true to the original minimalist architectural concept.

The floors, paneling and custom furnishings are all made of first-patina stained oak, a choice that speaks to tradition, yet is reinterpreted in a minimalist, contemporary manner.

Center stage in the spacious living room is the Harper seating system by Antonio Citterio for Flexform, in a corner arrangement designed to enhance the comfort of the family and their guests. The sectional is upholstered in an elegant beige fabric with contrasting grosgrain piping.

In the bedrooms, the Gregory bed and Tris side tables enhance and complement the visual warmth provided by the wood paneling on the walls.

In the garden in front of the home, the generously proportioned Lee Outdoor armchairs, distinguished by seemingly delicate yet durable woven polypropylene cord, are positioned for perfect enjoyment of the delightful landscape.
