Mexico, private home
The sophisticated elegance of Danish architecture is the hallmark feature of this villa’s unique design.
An extraordinary Olympic-length lap pool is the star of the first residential project by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels. Clad in black granite, the pool divides the site into two triangular parcels, one for the garden and one for the home, the latter distinguished by its original inverted pyramid shape. Large rectangular windows and terraces cut into the concrete facades provide additional enjoyment of the garden views.
The interior spaces are cut through by a straight stairway that, in an interplay of different planes, transects the two upper floors, creating multiple rooms with ceilings of different heights.
The first area encountered at the ground floor entrance is a spacious living room furnished with a Lifesteel sofa upholstered in tobacco color leather, accompanied by a Fly coffee table.
On the second floor, an elegant lounge space opens up in front of a large window wall, raised slightly above the level of the dining room, which is located on the opposite side of the stairway. Here, two comfortable Soft Dream sofas upholstered in an elegant blue fabric are matched with a pair of Feel Good armchairs.
On the top floor of the home, the area facing the spa entrance is furnished with a Happy chaise longue and an Oliver side table that dialogs with the Fly side table on the terrace.
The home also includes a wine cellar and tasting room, a private gym and a yoga studio.
