ITALY, CASA PUNTARA
On the outskirts of Ragusa, Casa Puntara is a new construction set in lush Mediterranean scrub among olive trees and carob. The number three recurs meaningfully in this modern home. The villa is made up of three overlapping stories, each with its own interesting view. The three stories are distinguished by three primary materials: the first is clad in split-face white Ashlar stone typical of the Hyblean area; plaster surfaces and expansive windows predominate on the second story; while the third story is set apart by sliding sunscreen panels in wood. On the open-plan main floor, the different spaces are skillfully defined by the furnishings that separate and join the various rooms. Center of attraction in the living room is the Soft Dream sofa designed by Antonio Citterio, paired with a Bangkok ottoman in tobacco color woven cowhide. The Lifesteel bed in the master bedroom is upholstered in soft nubuck leather.
