Eri armchair
A soft, enveloping aesthetic line defines the armchair designed by Fumie Shibata.
A visit to the company’s production facility inspired Japanese designer Fumie Shibata to propose the design for a new Flexform armchair.
Leveraging the expertise revealed by the skilled Flexform artisans, the designer envisioned a chair that could function as “a refuge of peace in the domestic landscape, that would enfold the body and the face”.
Aware of the design’s similarities with the collar of a shirt, Fumie Shibata wanted the armchair to be called Eri which, in the Japanese language, means “collar”.
Exquisite hand-turned and finished legs support an upholstered shell with well-balanced proportions that embraces the soft goose-down-filled seat and backrest cushions – features precisely designed to promote a satisfying sensation of relaxation.
