Paolo Nava
Paolo Nava was born in Seregno in 1943 and graduated from the Polytechnic University School of Architecture in Milan, in addition, he received a diploma in 1966 from the Institute of Industrial Design in Florence. He completed his training in England working with industrial design studios. In 1972, he founded the Citterio-Nava Studio with Antonio Citterio, where together they created some iconic products of Italian design. Starting in 1982, Paolo Nava continued his design work independently in his own studio/atelier with a focus on furniture design for many prestigious Italian and international brands. Visible in Nava’s designs is the ongoing search for possible dialog between his poetic vision and actual industrial and production requirements. Through his own personal conceptual approach to living space, he created a far-reaching transformation in use, crafting new relationships between materials and technologies where the shape of his objects is often only the natural consequence of a precise design process. A core aspect of his work is three-dimensional verification through workshop models and direct experimentation on materials.
The Paolo Nava studio has developed many products for the furniture industry, with a special focus on kitchens. The work also extends to consumer product design, exhibits and communication. Nava lectures and teaches in many countries. Over the course of its business life, the Paolo Nava studio has received prestigious design awards and international recognition.
